A Pause for Words
"February Is the Poetry of Becoming"
By Harold Schaefer
February is neither here nor there,
not drear winter, nor popping spring,
more a gymnast
stepping onto the mat,
limbering up,
hands rosined, feet set,
breath held,
muscles flexed to bound into air.
Harold Schaefer has a B.A. degree in Fine Arts and English from I.U. His poems have appeared in "Keeping the Flame Alive", "Flying Island", "Indiana Writes" and other publications. His poetry can also be found in the Indiana Poetry Archive. He lives in Greenfield, Indiana.
