A Pause for Words
"Dandelions" By Harold Schaefer
Wild at heart, bristling yellow,
Ubiquitous in extremis,
mesmerizing a child's eye,
encircling small wrists,
suns that laurel sweaty foreheads
in simple splendor.
Outlaw, you overwhelm lawns,
fill the snifter with summer wine,
calm the frantic dreams of
squandered time,
when all seemed in abundance,
mere blades of grass among dandelions.
Harold Schaefer has a B.A. degree in Fine Arts and English from I.U. His poems have appeared in "Keeping the Flame Alive", "Flying Island", "Indiana Writes" and other publications. His poetry can also be found in the Indiana Poetry Archive. He lives in Greenfield, Indiana.
