A Pause for Words

By Lylanne Musselman

Linked Bird Haiku

Feeding birds brings joy.

I love bird diversity

seen on my feeders.

I hang suet cakes

for Red-bellied Woodpeckers.

Today, Starlings feast.

A small male Downy

flitted around and dove in,

Starlings flew away.

Goldfinches rejoice,

Cardinals make their return.

Songbirds eat in peace.

Lylanne Musselman is an award-winning poet, visual artist, and playwright, who lives with her cats and creates in Eaton, IN. She is a member of Hancock County Arts. Musselman instructs writing classes of all stripes at Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis and at the University of Indianapolis.
