About the Event

Plein Air...

Come grab the En Plein Air vibes...

  • "What’s your favorite plein air setup or must-have tool?”

  • “What’s the weirdest place you’ve ever painted outdoors?”

  • “Do you paint the scene accurately, or the feeling of being there?”

During any Plein Air, working quickly keeps you in the moment and lets you get the essence of the scene onto your canvas before the light or other factors change.

Some artists consider the painting complete the moment they pack up their gear. Others will finish their work in the studio with their studies and photo references — there is no wrong way.

You can learn to define the focal point — the hook, the thing that caught your eye.

Hear from Katie Grant about the history of Plein Air.

Ask questions of these award winning artists.

  • "If you could paint one place outdoors before sunset, where would you go?”

  • “What’s the hardest thing about painting outside that nobody expects?”
